How to Measure Yourself for a Crown

Take a piece of wire, could be picture hanging wire, or other stiff wire. Wrap it around your head, exactly where you want the crown to sit. Lay the oval wire down on the table and measure the distance from front to back and side to side. You will get a measurement something like: 6 ¼” x 7 ¼”. That would be your measurement. If you want to add padding around the base of the inside of the crown, then you will need to add 1/8”- ¼” all around, increasing the dimensions accordingly. Appropriate padding can be Dr. Scholl’s moleskin foam that can be cut into thin strips and has a self adhesive. Or a metallic cording that is available in fabric stores can be glued around the inside edge of the crown with Fabri Tac glue, also available in fabric stores. Both types of padding can easily be taken out or changed.
Remember that we can make any design that is shown online or in our catalog as a tiara into a full oval crown with the design going all the way around to the back of the head.
Decide if you want silver or gold plating. Standard crystals for crowns are clear. We can also add aurora borealis, colored accents, or pearls or the entire crown in aurora borealis, colored accents, or pearls. Custom crown orders are usually 4-6 weeks delivery from placement of order.
